Composter Einar Selvik initiated the group in the early 2000s and their debut album had worldwide success upn release in 2009, transcending music genres, cultures, and languages. They’ve charted in both Germany and the UK and topped the Billboard world-music chart for several consecutive weeks. They’ve also made big musical contributions to the History Channel’s VIKINGS series, merging the academic with the pop culturial, and in the process being one of the foremost communicatiors of Norse culture.
