We recognise that we have a responsibility to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking both within our business and in our supply chain. We are committed to maintaining, improving and implementing practices and proportionate safeguards within our business and supply chains with the aim to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within all areas of the business in order to combat slavery and human trafficking.
Our structure and business
We are a manufacturer in the food industry and we provide hospitality services in the leisure sector. We operate solely in the UK.
At the time of writing this statement we directly employ approximately 1700 employees.
We operate bars under the brand “Albert’s Schloss” and pizzeria restaurants under the brand “Rudys”. We also operate the Albert Hall in Manchester and Schiller’s Hall in Liverpool.
At the time of writing this statement we operate:
- 4 Albert’s Schloss
- 1 Albert Hall
- 1 Schiller’s Hall
- 39 Rudys’ restaurants
We are expanding our Rudys restaurant presence across the UK.
Given the nature and size of our business we have an extensive supply chain.
Our Supply Chains
We recognise that it is crucial for us as an organisation to have oversight of our supply chains so that we can understand the risks of modern slavery along the chain and take action to mitigate against those risks.
Our supply chains include a large number of suppliers of goods and services such as: equipment used in our sites and offices, food and drink sold in our sites, cleaning services, security services, utilities and waste services, marketing, advertising, accounting, legal and other professional services, recruitment and training.
Our suppliers vary in terms of their size, expertise and industry and many of those will also be reliant on their own supply chain in order to be able to supply goods or services to us. A large majority of our suppliers operate almost entirely in the UK.
We engage with the majority of our suppliers following extensive tendering processes and a supplier onboarding process with financial and operational checks carried out where appropriate.
We are committed to ensuring that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in our supply chains or in any part of our business. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure slavery and human trafficking is not taking place anywhere in our supply chains.
Our policies on slavery and human trafficking
We have appropriate policies in place that underpin our commitment to ensure that there is a zero tolerance approach to modern slavery or human trafficking in our supply chains or in any part of our business. The policies we have in place are:
- Whistleblowing Policy
- Anti-Corruption and Bribery Policy
Communication and enforcement of policies
We communicate and enforce policies within the organisation and to suppliers and subcontractors.
We continuously review and update our policies. The above policies are contained within our Employee Handbook which is readily available for all of our employees to view on our intranet.
Due diligence processes for slavery and human trafficking
In this section we provide information on the due diligence programmes and processes we use in our business and supply chains in relation to slavery and human trafficking.
Due diligence in this context includes identifying, assessing, monitoring and mitigating any risks.
We require our suppliers to have suitable antislavery and human trafficking policies and processes in place. We are planning supplier visits to assess their performance in this area.
All of our sites are operated by the company directly and are managed by company employees, allowing for vigorous and thorough employment checking processes.
If our employees thought that there was a risk of modern slavery or human trafficking either in our business or in our supply chain, we believe that our positive working culture has created an open-door policy within our business, whereby our employees would feel able to report such a risk.
Risk assessment and management
In order to further prevent modern slavery in our business and supply chain we will continually review our systems and procedures to:
- Identify and assess potential risk areas in our supply chains as they arise
- Mitigate the risk of slavery and human trafficking occurring in our supply chains via understanding how they operate and protecting longstanding partner / supplier relationships.
- Monitor potential risk areas in our supply chains.
- Protect whistle blowers in light of our Whistleblowing Policy.
- Ensure right to work checks are carried out for all employees
Training
This statement is communicated to all management employees in the business and relevant controls are communicated.
This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending 30 September 2026.
